Multitudes II is on for November 6-10!

Hi Reader,

I know it's only been a few weeks since my last send, but some seasons the news comes quickly...

Announcing Multitudes II: A Gathering For Multi-Faceted People, November 6-10, 2025!

video preview

Alex Wong and I had a truly amazing time at the first-ever Multitudes last September. As we kept saying afterwards, "wow, everyone really understood the assignment." A power outage the first night just meant we kicked things off sitting in a circle on the living room floor, passing a giant stuffed unicorn around and telling stories. Music jams and board game sessions popped up like wildflowers. Deep-listening hot tub conversations ran late into the night.

And afterwards, both of us kept running into Multitudes reunions on tour. A Discord server and a book club are still going strong, as is a WhatsApp group sharing photos, personal health news, and updates on calling members of Congress, among other things. Something really special happened up the Smokies, and it really emerged from what every guest brought to the gathering.

So of course Multitudes: the Sequel (Multitudes II: Child of Multitudes? Multitudes: The Two Cabins?) had to happen, building off what we've learned. This time, we've got two beautiful cabins next door to each other - one is the same as last year's! Plus we're expanding to 4 days and nights, so Alex and I get more quality time just enjoying your company, and we all have a chance to explore the Smoky Mountains a bit (weather systems permitting).

Tickets will go on sale next Tuesday March 25 @ 12:00pm ET, and you'll see the ticket link appear on viennateng.com/tour.

If you're part of Alex's or my Patreon communities, the Patreon pre-sale will open 48 hours earlier, this Sunday March 23 @ 12:00pm ET. Last year Multitudes sold out in a hot 38 minutes (!), so while tickets should still be available at public on-sale time, becoming a Patreon member (even if only for the next month) is your best bet if you're especially keen to attend Multitudes.

Event details are below, including FAQ. If you have any additional questions, feel free to send an email to multitudes@viennateng.com.

Thanks for reading (for the second time this month). I hope you'll be shaping this year's Multitudes gathering with us - or perhaps that we'll see each other next month in Europe!

Love,
VT

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Q: How many people are included in the base King Room packages?
A: The package price covers 1 guest. For each additional guest, please add the $300 King Room 2nd/3rd Guest package. This enables us to cover their food & drink, program participation, and other parts of the Multitudes experience.

Q: Can I buy a ticket just for the performances/activities (i.e. arrange my own lodging)?
A: This is an all inclusive experience, and participants must be staying onsite at the cabins.

Q: Is my booking refundable?
A: You may cancel for a full refund up to 48 hours after booking. After the 48 hours, bookings are 50% refundable through September 6 (two months before the event). If we have a waitlist, we may be able to arrange for someone to claim your spot and issue you a full refund.

Q: Are kids allowed?
A: Our programming is designed for adult guests. Alex and Vienna's families will be staying onsite, with caregivers for the kids. Please contact us (via Ask A Question) if you're wondering whether a specific situation would be a good fit for this gathering. We do hope to host family-friendly gatherings for guests in the future - childcare and kid-friendly programming are a whole world unto themselves!

Q: Are pets allowed?
A: This is a humans only event, but we may get lucky and see birds and other wildlife from a safe distance during our stay!

Q: Are the cabins accessible?
A: The ground floor of each cabin, where all meals and official programming will take place, is fully accessible with ramps. There are a limited number of King Rooms available on the ground floor, but no Queen Bunks. The other floors of each cabin (which include game rooms, pools, movie rooms, etc.) can be reached only by stairs. If you book a King Room and want one on the accessible ground floor, please let us know in the "Other Notes" section at checkout, along with your overall accessibility requirements so we can ensure a great experience for you.

Q: Can I request a specific room or to be close to another guest?
A: Please include your request in the "Other Notes" section at checkout. While we can’t guarantee anything, we will definitely do our best to accommodate!

Q: Will you accommodate dietary restrictions?
A: Yes, we ask about dietary preference/restrictions at booking checkout. All meals will be “plant-forward,” and we'll strive to provide delicious options for every guest's diet. Please note that the cabins and our other food prep facilities will not be free of common food allergens (e.g. nuts, dairy).

Q: Will I need a car to get there / get around?
A: In brief, no. There are plenty of shuttle options available in the area, and we'll help coordinate among guests after booking. All official programming will be held on site at the cabin, and we will coordinate guest transportation for optional offsite activities as needed. But if you plan to explore the area on your own, getting in a car is the most practical way to do so.

Q: Will there be a shuttle from/to Nashville?
A: Hello Multitudes alum! We love you! No, we will not be providing ground transportation from Nashville this year, much as we loved the “Multitudes Tour Van.” This year we'll be taking advantage of the Smoky Mountains region's plentiful ground transport professionals, and focusing our team's efforts on creating a fabulous onsite experience during your stay.

Q: What are my payment options?
A: WeTravel accepts all major credit cards, and U.S. bank transfers. A 1% WeTravel service fee is added to all bookings at checkout. Credit card payments incur an additional 3.017% + $0.30 fee; bank transfers incur only an additional $0.30 fee.

ABOUT THE ARTIST-HOSTS

Alex Wong is a Latin GRAMMY-nominated artist, producer and activist who describes his songwriting as “Second-Generation Americana.”

In 2021, Alex established The Quiet Voice Fund around the idea that our voice doesn’t have to be loud to be strong. His "Show Yourself" benefit concert series raised over $87,000 for The Quiet Voice Fund.

In 2023 Alex introduced The Permission Parties, a multi-sensory experience where each track from his upcoming album Permission is paired with a Chinese-inspired dish that shares a common emotion. The initial five-night Nashville run of The Permission Parties sold out, prompting the first-ever listening and tasting tour across the US that fall.

“Growing up in the US as a second-generation Chinese American, I struggled to feel permission to take up space with my body, my voice, or my point of view,” Alex says. “By showcasing the emotional narratives connecting my music, food, and cultural identity, I hope to empower everyone, especially those on the margins, to feel permission to take up space with their stories.”

Vienna Teng is a songwriter, musician and climate organizer. In 2002, she released her debut album Waking Hour, landing her on NPR's Weekend Edition, The Late Show with David Letterman, and the top of Amazon's music charts. Four more albums followed, including Aims in 2013, which made Vienna the first artist to win four Independent Music Awards in one year. She is also the composer of the stage musical The Fourth Messenger with playwright Tanya Shaffer.

Her new mini-EP We’ve Got You reflects the complexity of her life over the past decade: a professional detour into climate work, community building, parenthood. Two songs, each titled “We’ve Got You,” act like fraternal twins: one an indie-pop tribute to inspiring leaders, the other a chamber-folk paean to unsung caregivers. Played simultaneously, they reveal a new intricate whole: a mashup by design, and a love letter to social movements. She cultivates a “music x climate action” community on Patreon, combining monthly livestream shows with Zoom climate action sessions, and hosting workshops between concerts that participants have described as “life-changing,” “rocket fuel,” and “the perfect antidote to despair.”

preview of Two Truths music video

Hey there Reader... The final installment of my music video trilogy, "Two Truths," is out! And boy, do its themes of looking out for each other in tumultuous times feel relevant right now. (You may recognize yourself flashing by, somewhere around the 3:28 mark - if so, thank you for sending in footage that helped make this amazing moment in the video possible!) From an interview I did with V13 Media about the project: I gave a kind of impossible task to my music-video collaborators: this song...

Here's a holiday-ish story for you, Reader... Why are there 40 pounds of toasted shredded coconut in my hallway? Well, it all started with an innocent brainstorming session... We've Got You: the era of overthinking With as delicately constructed a music project as We've Got You, it seemed time for a new merch collection: one as clever and, well, overthought as the songs. So we created some special limited-edition items, including one that just went up on the store: an engraved flash drive...

Hi Reader... I have music coming out this Friday, and tour dates coming up, but that's not why I'm writing. (Not mainly, anyway.) Yesterday I ran into one of my favorite neighbors. She's always upbeat, ever inviting people to something fun she's organizing. But yesterday she seemed jittery, oddly subdued as our kids ran around a courtyard together and shared snacks. Finally she sat down. "Sorry," she said. "I've got election anxiety. It's hard to think about anything else." She looked up....
