Hi Reader, I know it's only been a few weeks since my last send, but some seasons the news comes quickly... Announcing Multitudes II: A Gathering For Multi-Faceted People, November 6-10, 2025! Alex Wong and I had a truly amazing time at the first-ever Multitudes last September. As we kept saying afterwards, "wow, everyone really understood the assignment." A power outage the first night just meant we kicked things off sitting in a circle on the living room floor, passing a giant stuffed unicorn around and telling stories. Music jams and board game sessions popped up like wildflowers. Deep-listening hot tub conversations ran late into the night. And afterwards, both of us kept running into Multitudes reunions on tour. A Discord server and a book club are still going strong, as is a WhatsApp group sharing photos, personal health news, and updates on calling members of Congress, among other things. Something really special happened up the Smokies, and it really emerged from what every guest brought to the gathering. So of course Multitudes: the Sequel (Multitudes II: Child of Multitudes? Multitudes: The Two Cabins?) had to happen, building off what we've learned. This time, we've got two beautiful cabins next door to each other - one is the same as last year's! Plus we're expanding to 4 days and nights, so Alex and I get more quality time just enjoying your company, and we all have a chance to explore the Smoky Mountains a bit (weather systems permitting). Tickets will go on sale next Tuesday March 25 @ 12:00pm ET, and you'll see the ticket link appear on viennateng.com/tour. If you're part of Alex's or my Patreon communities, the Patreon pre-sale will open 48 hours earlier, this Sunday March 23 @ 12:00pm ET. Last year Multitudes sold out in a hot 38 minutes (!), so while tickets should still be available at public on-sale time, becoming a Patreon member (even if only for the next month) is your best bet if you're especially keen to attend Multitudes. Event details are below, including FAQ. If you have any additional questions, feel free to send an email to multitudes@viennateng.com. Thanks for reading (for the second time this month). I hope you'll be shaping this year's Multitudes gathering with us - or perhaps that we'll see each other next month in Europe! Love, MULTITUDES II: A GATHERING FOR MULTI-FACETED PEOPLE November 6-10, 2025 | Sevierville, TN We invite you to join musicians, activists, and polymaths Alex Wong and Vienna Teng to a very special retreat, set amid the stunning beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains in autumn. ABOUT THE ARTIST-HOSTS Alex Wong is a Latin GRAMMY-nominated artist, producer and activist who describes his songwriting as “Second-Generation Americana.” In 2021, Alex established The Quiet Voice Fund around the idea that our voice doesn’t have to be loud to be strong. His "Show Yourself" benefit concert series raised over $87,000 for The Quiet Voice Fund. In 2023 Alex introduced The Permission Parties, a multi-sensory experience where each track from his upcoming album Permission is paired with a Chinese-inspired dish that shares a common emotion. The initial five-night Nashville run of The Permission Parties sold out, prompting the first-ever listening and tasting tour across the US that fall. “Growing up in the US as a second-generation Chinese American, I struggled to feel permission to take up space with my body, my voice, or my point of view,” Alex says. “By showcasing the emotional narratives connecting my music, food, and cultural identity, I hope to empower everyone, especially those on the margins, to feel permission to take up space with their stories.” Vienna Teng is a songwriter, musician and climate organizer. In 2002, she released her debut album Waking Hour, landing her on NPR's Weekend Edition, The Late Show with David Letterman, and the top of Amazon's music charts. Four more albums followed, including Aims in 2013, which made Vienna the first artist to win four Independent Music Awards in one year. She is also the composer of the stage musical The Fourth Messenger with playwright Tanya Shaffer. Her new mini-EP We’ve Got You reflects the complexity of her life over the past decade: a professional detour into climate work, community building, parenthood. Two songs, each titled “We’ve Got You,” act like fraternal twins: one an indie-pop tribute to inspiring leaders, the other a chamber-folk paean to unsung caregivers. Played simultaneously, they reveal a new intricate whole: a mashup by design, and a love letter to social movements. She cultivates a “music x climate action” community on Patreon, combining monthly livestream shows with Zoom climate action sessions, and hosting workshops between concerts that participants have described as “life-changing,” “rocket fuel,” and “the perfect antidote to despair.” |

Hi Reader... Well, what a sweet way to land back home from tour. Thanks to all of YOU who've joined a climate action workshop on tour, signed up for office hours, browsed the starter list of useful actions, joined the monthly Patreon hangouts, or worked with me one-on-one to figure out what you can do...I'm on this year's Grist 50 list of "climate leaders you should know"! From Grist's lovely writeup: While musicians have a rich history of raising awareness for social causes, Teng takes it a...
Hi Reader, I have an exciting update coming in a few weeks (teaser: I'll be a speaker in an awards event at Climate Week NYC!), but I want to share some more immediate news. My November 21 show at World Cafe Live in Philadephia is canceled - BUT we’ve moved it just a bit down Interstate 95 to The Queen in Wilmington, Delaware, a beautiful venue I’ve been wanting to play for a while. Tickets are on sale as of today! Also, in a mere two days - Saturday Aug 30 - I'll be playing an outdoor show...
Hi Reader... I write to you from a very messy living room, where I've been tinkering with gear and instruments outside my comfort zone. I'm working on three projects at once: recording an EP of beloved rarities like "Pencil Sketch"; an event concept blending new songs with a climate solutions "tasting party" (yes, I'm directly riffing off Alex Wong's amazing Permission Parties); and the first lurching, grasping sonic experiments for a new full-length album. Oh, plus tomorrow's Patreon...
